Background
I was born in Schenectady, N.Y. to parents who were both trained fine artists, graduates of Syracuse University which I graduated from as well. I guess it was in the genes since even my paternal grandfather loved to draw. My Dad is now listed in Who Was Who in American Art and he and my mom were my inspiration. Dad had a lot of one-man shows over the years as well as being an art director for General Electric for 35 years.
I started drawing and painting when a toddler on my father's knee in his large studio and took lessons one summer at the museum where he taught a weekly night class. I also loved looking at his art books very carefully when he would let me. I was told later that he had one of the best private art book collections in New York State.
After graduating, I married my college sweetheart, became a mom and moved to Boston, Mass. where we lived for six years. I loved that city.
I've also lived in Chicago and Kankakee, IL, Wilmington, N.C. and Memphis, TN. Since 1989, we've lived in Lakeland, FL which is between Tampa and Orlando on the West side. I worked for twenty years at a variety of jobs, always crafting and sewing on the side (even sold a bunch of my hand crafted jewelry for several years).
I was thrilled to discover the print-on-demand venue and feel very blessed to be able to earn a living at what I love to do. After I composed my first web site in 1997, I was discovered by Susan Young and was one of two artists interviewed and featured in her book "Decorative Painting for Fun and Profit" (Prima Publishing).
One of my favorite ways to display pets is to put them into famous masterpieces. I have a shop called Masterpiece Dogs on Cafe Press and a gallery called Masterpiece Cats on Zazzle. I have a lot of Christmas designs for both dogs, cats, llamas too at Heart Bridge Gallery on Cafe Press that has links to all my major shops there.
I hope you'll come visit some time.
